anZel learning sign language

We’ve been trying to teach anZel sign language since he’s like 3 months old. All the books we’ve read recommend starting the child at around 5 to 7 months coz that’s when their long term memory is established, supposedly. But we figured what the heck, we have to learn them anyway. So we started early.

A couple of weeks ago anZel kept doing the milk sign. We at first didn’t really pay much attention to it. But he just kept doing it and doing it nonstop. We finally took notice and immediately tried to feed him some formula. Unfortunately we are not sure whether he actually meant he wanted milk or not coz he didn’t really take the bottle right away. SIGH, we thought we saw the first sign from anZel but I guess not.

Doesn’t matter obviously. We will continue to teach him signs, as you can see from the following video.

anZel plays with golf balls and seeks help

Gave anZel a couple golf balls this morning to play. He really does a pretty good job of grabbing those balls and holding on to them.

It’s also really awesome to see how he will now ask for help (near the end of the clip)…

So anZel’s been sleeping through the night for over a week now. It has been great for us since we don’t have to feed him at night anymore. He does about 12 hours and then wakes up. He never cries when he wakes up though. He just opens his eyes and looks around. Sometimes we don’t even know he’s awak even if we were in the same room as he. Though due to his eczema, we still have to swaddle him so he doesn’t scratch himself silly.

Actually he did wake us up a couple of nights. The first was Sunday night. For some reason he had rash all over his body and we had to go to the emergency room at around 1:30 in the morning. Waited in the hospital for over 3 hours before the doctor came. Looked at anZel for like 30 seconds and prescribed him a steroid medication and some antibiotics. Didn’t really say why there was a rash, just said it’s probably ezcema. By the time we came back it was already 5AM in the morning!!

The hospital has AC blasting…we had to wrap anZel up…he sleeps pretty well on those hospital beds…

anZel’s been taking the antibiotic for almost a week now. Today’s the last day. Unfortunately I think the antibiotic made him throw up the formula a couple of times, projectile style…

The second night he woke us up was again around 1AM. He started making noises and twitching and moaning. We couldn’t figure out what the heck was wrong with him. I tried to calm him down but he just wouldn’t stop. I finally took him downstairs to change his diaper. Then I saw what happened. He’s trying to push something out!!

anZel hadn’t pooped for a couple of days by then so he’s probably a bit consitipated. Normally he poops in the morning after the first feeding. But given that he hadn’t done that for a couple of days, he’s decided to try it at night! So I held his legs and let him do his business. A couple of minutes later, he apparently finished his business and felt right back to sleep. Unfortunately I have to clean up his mess!!!

He did that again around 5AM in the morning. Except this time by the time I got over to his room he’s almost done with his business and felt back to sleep right away. I just left him there

As grandma helen always says, all she cares is that he eats, shits and sleeps. Everything else doesn’t matter. So she was very happy to see that anZel did his business that night.

The last few nights anZel has finally slept through the night. He doesn’t need to wake up for an additional feeding. Usually goes to sleep around 8 and wakes up around 7. Four nights now…

That’s pretty awesome as beeber will be going back to work starting Monday and not having to wake up during the night will really help…

Home alone with anZel, part 2: outings

Since we are home alone with no adult supervision, I decided to take anZel out for a while. We were out for over 4 hours.

First, after anZel woke up from his cat nap, we went to in-n-out and met up with the away team (beeber, beeber’s bro and mom) for lunch.

Then, I decided to take anZel to the range for some golf practice. He seem to have enjoyed it. He watched everyone there play for like 1.5 hours.

After that, anZel was sooooo tired he fell asleep on the way back.

But daddy had one more stop to make…starbucks!!

Home alone with anZel

So, as of this moment, I am officially home alone with anZel for 2 days. Just sent beeber, her brother and mother away to Napa for the weekend. They definitely deserve a break from anZel.

Beeber also wants me to have a taste of what it’s like to take care of anZel for 24 hours ALL BY MYSELF!

The lil monk is sleeping quietly in his crib at the moment. Let’s see how it goes the next couple of days.

anZel’s growing like a weed

I went on a business trip for a few days this week and when I was away, anZel made some amzing progress on sitting up. He can now sit up for a long time. When he’s sitting on his bouncer or laying down, he will try really hard to sit up. As you can see from some of the pictures below, he will even do crunches!!

anZel’s doing great with his back-to-stomach roll overs now. He can do it with such ease. I wonder if the bald head helped since it’s probably an oz or two lighter.
